National Headliner Award

Nevada Magazine was awarded first place in the prestigious 2008 National Headliner Awards for its Web site (designed by Noble Studios), NevadaMagazine.com. The site beat out CNN.Money.com and Newsweek.com in the “Magazine Affiliated Online Journalism” division and will be honored May 17 in Atlantic City. Other media companies recognized include ESPN, National Public Radio, and The Boston Globe.

“We were very excited to hear the news,” said Joyce Hollister, publisher of Nevada Magazine. “The efforts that Noble Studios and our talented staff have shown during the production of the site are exemplary. We intend to continue to provide our readers with award-winning stories and services.”

Carson City Web development company Noble Studios launched the Web site in August 2007. Former Publisher Deb Dudley initiated an online redesign in early 2007 and worked closely with Editor Matthew B. Brown, current Art Director Tony deRonnebeck, former Art Director Matt Smith, and the Noble Studios development team to produce a fully functional Web site within six weeks.

Founded in 1934 by the Press Club of Atlantic City, the National Headliner Awards program is one of the oldest and largest annual contests recognizing journalistic merit in the communications industry. The first National Headliner Awards were presented in 1935. Since then, more than 2,000 Headliner medallions have been presented to outstanding writers, photographers, daily newspapers, magazines, graphic artists, radio and television stations and networks, and news syndicates.

“It’s sometimes hard to believe that two small companies from a town like Carson City could compete with such giants as Newsweek and CNN,” said Jarrod Lopiccolo, business director for Noble Studios. “Nevada Magazine is an incredible company to work with, and the staff gave great effort and feedback during the course of the project. I’m glad to have been a part of such a fun and exciting project.”

We had a blast in Europe and are ready to take 2008 by storm. After a few days of workshops and internal focus, the Noble Studios crew took in some outstanding sites. Here are some photos from our trip.
