For Associate Technical Director Roy Lindauer, being better every day means learning something new every day—whether it comes from a book, an art project or a night under the stars in Nevada wilderness.
Reno born and raised, Roy is a self-taught tech guru who has spent half of his eighteen-year career with Noble Studios. In his day-to-day duties, he keeps the development team unblocked, ensures smooth workflows and levels up our technical abilities in ways we can’t even count.
Previously Roy worked as a DevOps engineer at a cannabis logistics startup, where he designed, built and maintained a modern CI/CD pipeline. Though it called for some deep cultural changes across the company, the end result was well worth it: a docker-based software development life-cycle (SDLC) with automated testing, multiple production deployments daily and a more stable hosting infrastructure.
(Translation for those of us who aren’t technically inclined: Roy’s solution cut lead time on new features and bug fixes, let the company release features more frequently and made rapid growth possible. More value for more users and their customers–booyah.)
Continuous learning is an important part of Roy’s everyday routine, especially as an artist who approaches new ideas and projects with a beginner’s curiosity. On his journey to becoming a more effective software engineer and DevOps leader, he organized a technical book club where members discussed and shared their knowledge, as well as led the local Reno Linux group. (For all that, though, he still doesn’t trust his computer—that’s why he hits ctrl+S multiple times.)
When he’s not leveling up himself, his team or his colleagues, Roy spends time reading, studying and camping with his wife and their corgi, Olive.
